Econ websites
Here’s some intersting forums that I’ve heard about:
- EconJobRumors – all sorts of job and non-job stuff (good post on structural vs. reduced from models)
- The Grad Cafe where people post about acceptances and rejections.
- Test Magic’s Econ PhD forum – higher signal/noise ratio than EconJobRumors.
Do people know of any other good Econ type websites? Also I had a thought today. Most journals list their forthcoming articles (accepted but not published yet), but don’t link to their online versions. As most authors these days do post online, one could duplicate these lists from the journals and include the links to the pdfs from each authors websites. Anyone done this yet?
Young Economics. 
The only econ type websites I know of are more blog and news reporting style. I’ll put three of my favorites here that aren’t the most obvious ones. I have a ton of these things though, so if you like I can give you some more.
voxEU.org – A great website, with short opinion pieces by top economists. They publish online articles that fall between a news story and an economic paper. Not a source to skim, but great if you have some time.
http://www.econbrowser.com – A fantastic blog on all things economics. They base their posts on strong analytic arguments. James Hamilton is a must read, especially the post he did on the Feds balance sheet about a week ago: (http://www.econbrowser.com/archives/2009/03/money_creation_1.html)
http://blogs.cfr.org/setser/ – Here’s one you will either love or hate. Brad Setser probably knows more about China capital flows than anyone going, so writes amazing posts about the Chinese current account position, reserve status and treasury holdings. The posts are long though, and again this isn’t the best thing if you feel like skimming.
